Maintenance

BS5839 Part I requires fire alarms to be inspected and tested at intervals to be determined by fire risk assessment, but in all cases not to be less than two inspections per year.

Of the inspections performed, in general terms, one inspection per year would be classed as 'major' (although there are some variations possible). A major inspection requires every single component on the system to be tested and verified for correct operation. Where Marbco take over the maintenance of an existing system we always start with a major inspection. This immediately confirms the efficiency.

Other inspections through a year are normally referred to as 'minor' and entail testing all functions of the control panel, all of the warning devices and a minimum of one activation component (detector or call-point) in each zone of the building.

Our maintenance engineers work closely with management to avoid disruption to working week activities of the building.
